Recovery Toolbox for Exchange Server - all you need to recover your data from damaged Exchange Server files
A comprehensive and straightforward solution for recovering data from damaged or corrupted Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2007 files
Microsoft Exchange Server is by far the most popular and functional communication and collaboration suite in the world of heavy-duty, enterprise-level corporate software. Although primarily used a multi-functional messaging solution, it offers a broad range of capabilities aimed at facilitating the work of employees in large-scale, distributed business environments. Featuring secure mobile and web-based access, data encryption, clustering and replication tools, support of voice mail and unified messaging capabilities, this software is the number one choice for expandable, distributed corporate infrastructures based on Microsoft products. However, any software, no matter how protected and fail-proof it is, relies in its operation on hardware, which can go out of order for a number of reasons - from a manufacturing flaw to incidents caused by power shortages or surges, physical damage and incorrect user's actions. In such cases, the data accumulated in your Exchange folders can be damaged or lost - and this is a far greater problem than a hard drive or a motherboard that needs to be replaced. Fortunately, in the majority of cases, a corrupted file's structure can be read and data can be recovered using specialized tools, which can drastically reduce the down time and enable you to continue working within minutes or hours after a crash.

Recovery Toolbox for Exchange Server (download) is one of such tools specifically designed to recover all kinds of data from corrupted and unreadable Exchange Server data files. The program supports both the older Exchange Server 2003 and the most up-to-date Exchange Server 2007. The main difference between the two versions is that ES2003 stores data in two associated files, while the newest version of the suite needs only one file to store users' data. The interface of the program is based on the concept of a step-by-step wizard, which allows you to control the recovery options and go back any time to make the necessary changes. Thanks to the simplicity and straightforwardness of its interface, Recovery Toolbox for Exchange Server can be used by virtually anyone - no prior training or special knowledge is required to successfully extract data from any damaged file.

The first screen of the tool prompts you to select the version of the Exchange Server file (2003 or 2007) you would like to recover data from. Once selected, you can proceed to the next step. Depending on the file version you specified on the previous step, you will see either one or two fields. You can either type the names and paths to the files you will be working with or select them using the standard Open File dialog that can be opened by clicking on the small icons to the right of the input fields. After you enter the names of the damaged files, press Next and the program will read and analyze their structure. The next screen contains the structure of the damaged Exchange database file with mailboxes, folders and groups of account settings organized in the form of a tree. You can browse the tree, view messages in folders and even save individual items on your hard drive, email attachments being no exception. Once the necessary items have been selected, press the Next button to advance to the next step of the wizard. Here's where you specify the output folder for your recovered data. Just type the necessary path into the input field or open the standard Browse dialog by clicking the small folder icon to the right. Clicking the Recover button on this screen will start the recovery process. Its duration will chiefly depend on the size of your Exchange Server database file and the speed of your computer. However, you will be able to track the recovery progress in a real-time log that reflects every action performed by the software.
