Recover and save contact records using the Recovery Wizard of the Recovery Toolbox for Address Book tool. With the Recovery Wizard, you will turn recovering and saving contact data from the Windows Address Book into a quick and simple procedure. Thanks to the Recovery Wizard, you will understand the entire process of recovering contact data from the Windows Address Book. Later on, when you learn all recovery steps, you will be able to recover contact data from the Windows Address Book without the Recovery Wizard.
To start recovering and saving contact records from the Windows Address Book using the Recovery Wizard, you should start the Recovery Toolbox for Address Book tool. Once started, the program will automatically offer you to recover contact data with the Recovery Wizard of the Recovery Toolbox for Address Book tool. If you refuse to start the Recovery Wizard at Recovery Toolbox for Address Book startup, use the Recovery Wizard button  in the menu of the program to start the Recovery Wizard.
The dialog box displayed after you start the wizard informs you that you can use the Recovery Wizard to:
- Select the source file for recovery (specify the path to the Windows Address Book file you want to recover contact records from)
- Recover the source file (recover contact records)
- Save recovered contacts (save recovered contact records)
You will have to follow the instructions of the Recovery Wizard and go through the steps of recovering contact records one by one: select the Windows Address Book, recover and save contact information.
Also, the program will offer you to disable this dialog box at Recovery Toolbox for Address Book startup. To do it, select the Don't show this dialog again on StartUp checkbox. If you do it, use the Recovery Wizard button in the main menu of the program to start the Recovery Wizard of the Recovery Toolbox for Address Book tool in future. To move on to the next recovery step, click the Next button.
The Recovery Wizard will offer you to specify the path to the file you want to recover contact records from. By default, the program offers you the path to the current user's Address Book. If you need to change the path to the file you want to recover contact records from, use the Open button to the right from the offered path to the Windows Address Book file. After that select the Windows Address Book file you want to recover contact data from (files with the extensions *.wab, *.wa~, *.~ are available for recovery) and click the Open button. After you finish specifying the file, click the Next button to continue the recovery process.

To recover the contact records of the specified Windows Address Book file, click the Start Recovery button. The progress bar of the contact recovery will allow you to know how the recovery process is going. Recovering contact records will take some time depending on the size of the source Windows Address Book file. When the recovery process is over, you will see the list of recovered contact records in the main window of the program. To move on to the next recovery step, click the Next button.
The next step will be saving contact records as *.vcf files (the Business Card format (vCard)). The Recovery Wizard of the Recovery Toolbox for Address Book tool will show you the list of all recovered contact records and offer you available options of what to do next:
- Save checked records (initially unavailable) - save the selected contact records
- Save current record - save the current contact record
- Save all records - save all recovered contact records
The first option will become available when you select one or more contact records. Use the context menu to select contact records. The context is opened with a right click. You can use the context menu to:
- Copy - copy the data of the current contact record (the name and the e-mail address) to the clipboard
- Check All Contacts - select all contacts
- Check All Records - select all contact records
- Check Current Record - select the current record
- Uncheck Current Record - clear the current record
- Uncheck All Records - clear all contact records
- Uncheck All Contacts - clear all contacts
- Save selected records - save the selected contact records
- Save current record - save the current contact record
- Save all records - save all contact records
Make your choice and click one of the three buttons. The Recovery Wizard of the Recovery Toolbox for Address Book tool will offer you to choose where to save the selected contact records. Each record will be saved to a separate .vcf file in the specified location. The value of the Name field will be used as the name of the file. After you specify the location, click the Save button. To move on to the final step of the Recovery Wizard of the Recovery Toolbox for Address Book tool, use the Next button.
The program will inform you how many contact records have been recovered, what Windows Address Book file records have been recovered from, how many contact records have been saved. Finish the work of the Recovery Wizard of the Recovery Toolbox for Address Book tool by clicking the Finish button.
